Tendring District Council would like to thank Colchester City Council for the opportunity to comment on the Regulation 18 draft of their Local Plan.
Our councils have worked closely together over many years on strategic planning matters, and Tendring District Council remains committed to maintaining this constructive and collaborative relationship. We are aware of the proposals contained within the emerging Colchester Local Plan, informed by ongoing liaison and regular meetings between our two authorities.
Tendring District Council has no formal comments to make on the content of the draft Local Plan at this stage. However, we wish to express our support for Colchester City Council’s continued efforts to progress the Local Plan in challenging circumstances and to an ambitious timetable.
Looking ahead, both authorities are committed to working together to prepare a Statement of Common Ground. This will support the effective progression of each council’s Local Plan towards examination and ensure continued alignment on strategic cross boundary matters.

The Marks Tey Neighbourhood Plan adopted in May 2022 after a Parish Referendum which was accepted by an overwhelming majority and legally accepted into the Local Plan, is completely overridden by the Preferred Options Local Plan 2025.
