Colchester City Council Preferred Options Local Plan Regulation 18 Consultation 2025

Policy PC2: Active and Sustainable Travel

Representation ID: 14396

Received: 13/01/2026

Respondent: Colchester Cycle Campaign

Representation Summary:

EIGHT ASH GREEN: village needs a spine cycle route similar to that which is being proposed for Great Horkesley.

Consideration should be given to tying in the village to the Colchester cycle network via Halstead Road.

Improved walking/cycling connections are needed with Stane Park. More use should be made of the Lucy Lane tunnel – it should be well signed and central to improvement schemes.

See our observations on reducing the attractiveness of country lanes for motor vehicle drivers and stopping rat runs.
