Preferred Options Local Plan Consultation

We are currently working on a new Local Plan for Colchester which will provide the strategy for the growth of Colchester up the 2041, setting out what development will take place and where, and policies for the conservation and protection of the environment. Once adopted, the new Local Plan will replace existing local planning policies.

We are carrying out a consultation on the Preferred Options Local Plan. This consultation is in accordance with Regulation 18 of the Town and Country Planning Regulations 2012.

The Preferred Options Local Plan is a draft plan and we are inviting comments from residents and stakeholders to help shape the Local Plan. This consultation will close at 5pm on Wednesday 14 January 2026.
